Feeling rather woozy right now after waking up from an unexpected nap... *bangs head on keybord*uidrygfber Ow. Anyway, i took the SMRT bus 963 on the way home today, with Derek, his twin Daren, and Daren's friend Kenneth. We were sitting on the two rows of seats right behind the driver at the front of the bus, with the twins taking the seats facing the front while Kenneth and i took the seats behind them, facing the back of the bus. It all started when Kenneth hit the seat in front, causing a mushroom cloud of dust Ok fine, so maybe a nuclear explosion's a little exaggerated, but you get my point about just how thick the layer of dust was. Being the naughty little twins that they were, Derek and Daren began whacking each other's seats, causing clouds of dust to fly up. Kenneth and I tried it on our own seats, and sure enough, they were also very dusty. After countless sneezes, watery eyes and irritated throats later, the evil Derek came up with a plan: When passengers stepped into the bus, Kenneth was to hit the (empty) seat in front of him, and see if people would still sit there after the dust erupted from it. Lol yeah, kinda childish, but he tried it at the next stop anyway, and sure enough an auntie who was about to sit down quickly changed her mind and walked quickly to the back of the bus. Suddenly, an Indian man sitting on the other side of the bus (the left side) barked at us, "Hey, guys, stop it." We all guai guai stop lor, and the two twins were getting off at the next stop anyway. Though i don't quite see how he is affected - he was sitting 3m away from us so the dust would hardly reach him. Unless he's the CEO of SMRT, then dowan the passengers to know how dirty their buses are... <_< I realised that there was quite a bit of dust on my specs and watch later, heh. But making all dust fly from the seats was quite cool, i must admit. The bus driver should thank us for helping him dust his bus. =X In any case, this shows the bad condition SMRT buses are in. Is it really that hard for the bus driver to just spend one hour dusting and cleaning his bus? And they still say they want to increase bus fares. Your buses in such lousy condition, still want us pay extra for what? That is why you should have PVC leather seats instead of furry ones, cos they dont collect dust that easily. And that is where SBS scores better than SMRT. Here's a brief comparison between SBS and SMRT buses, from my experience: SBS Waiting time: Quite fast Availability of seats (peak period): 50% Comfort: Average Cleanliness: Above average Air-conditioning: Often too hot or too cold Travelling speed: Quite slow Miscellanous: TVMobile, which airs the same shows 3 times a day SMRT Waiting time: Very slow Availability of seats (peak period): 25% Comfort: Average Cleanliness: Dirty Air-conditioning: Just right Travelling speed: Fast Miscellanous: Flashing bar which tells you which stop it is, except it sometimes says you are in Orchard Road when you are in Ang Mo Kio. Conclusion: For speed, take SMRT. But in terms of bus conditions, SBS is still better. Which is probably why it happens to be the biggest transport operator in Singapore. |
