Mug
v. The Singaporean version of cramming for exams, i.e. scanning notes into one's brain. As if it wasn't filled with enough junk already.

Only if Necessary
adv. The night before for classroom assessments; one day for lecture tests; and one day and night (per subject) for major examinations.

This author is currently on hiatus for the ignoble cause of mugging. The public is advised to remain calm, as this routine protocol has been shown to have no effect on one's violent tendencies in 96% of cases.

Blogging from school now after SMO - yeah, i got excused from CAP for a few hours thanks to it. Gotta rush this post though ><

CAP is seriously fun, and the food's not bad, though the seniors there say previous years' food were either overcooked or undercooked. (Yellow veg ftl...)

Poetry slam is ncie too, considering that we've got an ang moh as the trainer, who cracks joke every 5 seconds. And he can do a spontaneous rendition of any poem anytime. I bet he's got like, at least a hundred poems memorised D:

Discipline this year is apprently much stricter though, mainly cos this year's CAP batch is the largest among all previous years. Already got warned/scolded twice liao, once for falling asleep during a lecture (oops) and another for sleepign with the lights on and door unlocked (wtf!)...=X

Oh yeah, accomodation's pretty good, but i think the one at Brunei was even better lor. There's no air-con this time...

Anyway, time to rush back to NUS for lunch le. Too bad there's no internet connection for us participants there - and i don't have a laptop to go with it anyway T_T

CAP

Barely 9 hours to go before the Creative Arts Programme starts!

Yep, ill be away for 5 days again, except it's a residential camp at NUS this time - we're staying in the hostel there! - so should be pretty comfy and fun. xD

Though the moment i come back, there's iCTC the next week, then a family trip to Genting a day after, then the MINIMUM thingy right after. Aaaargh, so many events all clumped togetehr in these first two weeks alone. >_<

Anyway, went to Cineleisure today again with a few other friends and pia-ed CS for 3 hours. Quite a low turnout though - maybe cos it's a Sunday and most people can't make it. :(

Arcade after that was cool. We got to see Yu Xuan's trigger-happy middle finger in action again, and i actually saw someone dance on the ParaPara machine, instead of lifeless waves of the hand or just sticking out your leg to reach that freaking arrow. That guy is damn pro can - i think he actually memorised all the steps and put it together into a dance le. D:

Ack, so many things to do, so little time. Just completed my CAP stuff, and amazingly managed to squeeze some time to blog this short post. Hopefully i can find some time tmr morning to work on this again. =X

In any case, Happy Holidays! :3

Of Might and Magic, Paintball and CAP

Whee! This term's EOTA was uber cool can. Went OCC for paintball! ^^

(And the OS rocks even more, being the last to hand in his consent forms, yet acting as if he's that important...)

So we were split into 10 teams, with two teams facing each other off for 2 rounds each time. We were supposed to shoot down a couple of targets (and opponents xD), then grab this box thingy and run for base.

Mine being the first match of the day, everyone was quite fearful. We ended up with both sides being idle snipers, hehe. At least i didn't get hit, but i did shoot down two targets anyway.

The following matches just got crazier and crazier. There's Qi En, who slipped and fell while running to the battlefront, apparently tryign to do some Matrix stuff.

"First blood! Er...suicide!"

Then you've got Zhaoxing, whose aiming was so great, he hit Yi Yong, who was on his team.

"Team kill!"

And yeah, Yi Yong tanked like 6 shots or so, even eating paint (bitter!) when one hit his face mask. And it does hurt...there's like two ugly bruises on his neck after that. D:

Of course, nothing can beat Shaun (our OS!) and Kia Wee, the freedom fighters who fire shots wildly into the air like...

"For ze mudderland!"

But the final match was the coolest of all - you've got bing, yu xuan, daryll, and best of all, a teacher on one side. Team all-stars, basically. And then you watch the teacher go into combat NS-style while the others snipe from behind...

"Ownage!"

It was kinda expensive though, $35 for like, 50 pellets and a few minutes of fun. That's about 50 cents per pellet. And with people like our very own Tamil Tigers around, you can imagine how much wastage there was.

Anyway, we all went bowling after that, since there was quite abit of time left...and i realised we all sucked after not playing for half a year or so already. Didn't even get a single spare or strike, stupid luck...D:

Though getting my results later back that day was a dampener on things - i fared really badly this term. And for those of you who think that means ive got an MSG of above 1.00 (i.e. ben/derek standard) - Nope, i got even higher than 2.5. Mainly cos i didn't do well in the subjects im good in, namely: english and maths. And i totally flunked science - i got lowest in class for chemistry. =X

Well, at least my MSG is 0.2 less than what i told some people in class. Nevertheless, still bad. >_<

Ah well, holidays are officially here at last! Just a couple of days more to CAP, i can't wait!

...Well, actually i can, cos im still not done with the essay on the odd theme of "Wiring Heartlands" that we're supposed to prepare. Better get back to work soon.

"GG!"

holidays

Whee, holidays are finally (almost) here! Plus, tmr's the last official day of lessons, since we're having EOTA on friday - paintball ftw! ^^ - so yay, time to slack. xD

...Well, not really. Considering half my holiday's taken up by the CAP and iCTC camps, in addition to a planned family trip to Genting...that's teh first two weeks of holidays gone. Then you've got all the projects and such (damn, HRP) which teachers expect you to miraculously complete after that. Did i mention EP3/CCA and extra lessons too? D:

Still, CAP's probably gonna be fun. 5 more days! :D

Though i kinda pity Wei Qi, who's going on his third language exchange programme to japan for the first three weeks. Though it's a nice place over there...<3 sushi and anime =)

Anyway, as i promised, here's a few photos from OBBD, courtesy of Jun Hui:

Accomodation! Air-con's not shown in the pic though. ;)

The mall! Wait, i mean, THE Mall - it's seriously called that, okay. Think its the largest mall in Brunei le, but at least not too bad lah - especially if you get to go there after 8 days of camping out. xD

And some other random pics:

(Un)fortunately, no pics of me yet, since my watchmates STILL haven't uploaded their pics. And neither has Mr/Father/B Lee. Hurry up leh...-prods- <_<

IDS

Ack, sorry for not updating for so long, couldn't find anything to talk about for the last 5 days or so. Cos it happens to be our IDS (Inter-Disciplinary Studies) week - which shows how utterly slack (and boring) it is.

We're doing forensics this year, and though it only covers the disciplines of math and science - quite useless to us in the Humanities Programme - at least it's free frag for ACE points. Hey, up to 5 points x 4 subjects for just performing some experiments is pretty good, no? xD

Sadly i think that my group will only get around 3 pts for each of the sucjects. Lucky me, to have been allocated in the group with Qi En and Hongguang. At least Lu Jun is 1337. D:

The field trip down to HSA today was pretty fei4 too - i was almsot falling asleep while standing up as the staff were givign a tour. Had to rely on Lam's massage *ow* to stop me from smashing unwittingly into the wall. Though one thing we realised was that one single machine there could buy you a condo. (Yeah, the water chromatography machines cost $700k by themselves already, and we spotted at least 5 on our tour. Woah.)

On a side note, an update to OBBD: Sunburn's finally setting in. =X

Was worse earleir today, but after quite a bit of scratching and all that, a fair bit of the traces of dead skin are gone already. Well, at least its just a bit of skin flaking off, and not like entire patches of skin peeling off like some of those who went to Ubin. D:

And yeah, ill upload some photos from the trip tmr, i promise. Been delayed long enough already.

back home

It just started raining. Damn, the feeling of not having to scramble to dump our luggage under the shelter of tents and fasten the flysheet before zipping ourselves up in a potentially suffocating environment is just...undescribable. All i need to do this time round is just to close the windows.

Did i mention that when i stepped into my home for the first time in ages, i thought that there must have been a massive reorganisaion of the furniture or something, cos it suddenly seemed so spacious? Then i realised that i had been seeing green and constricted paths in the jungles for too long and that there was only smooth marble floor at home. D:

Back to civilisation! Though I'd rather not have reality alogn with it, thank you very much.

Yeah, as much as i would have liked to skip another day of lessons, i grudgingly dragged myself to school, mainly cos today was a slack day. IDS, then assembly for half the day, where we were given Indian cuisine and told to eat it with your bare hands (traditional style worhx!) but ended up making burritos using the chapati instead, then watching Ben play Pokemon Diamond on his laptop for one free period (we don't have IHE during IDS, rmb) before ending off with some odd video.

And yes, Lester ponned. (Not) Surprisingly, he was the only one from iSpark who went for OBBD but didn't go to school. Probably watching anime at home, as usual. You know.

Going into class today was damn weird. You see all the changed faces, odd hairstyles and sunburnt skin. But the biggest shock of all was proobably Mdm Cao's hair - she permed it such that it looks like some random movie star now. Currently, it sort of resembles Zoe Tay, though i heard it was worse on Monday. But she looks so much cooler can - though it'll probably take soem time to get used to.

It looks like my posts for the next few days will be centred around OBBD. Sorry about that, cos mainly I just can't stop thinking about it and also cos school life this couple of weeks will be so boring there'll be hardly anything more interesting to blog about. Though IDS is still free frag for ACE. ;)

SCREW ZE WORLD.

Or so I told andai over sms.

Twas supposed to be a happy day when i returned from brunei. Till reality struck me, in the form of two smses from teachers within ten minutes of me stepping out from the Royal Brunei plane.

"Can you and yiyoung (sic) come and see me after school tml with your stuff thanks" - Mr Quek

"CDS negative balance, top up asap!" - Ms Wong

And NO, they didn't send it during the entire 10 days i was away, but they just had to do it when i arrived back in Singapore. Seriously spoiled the mood.

CRUEL, CRUEL WORLD.

On that note, OB Brunei Darassalam was quite fun, actually. Twas a unique experience.

One thing the camp taught me, though, was that "unique" was a great way to put things both horrible and terribly good.

Sec 1 camp was a unique experience, too. Though OBBD was almost the direct opposite of it.

Lots of time. No night activities. No stupid group competitions. Great watchmates. Nice instructors.

And to top it all off, a three-day stay at the SEA Games Village (almost like a chalet) and one day spent in the city + mall. =)

Will blog more about this camp in a while, once i've received the photos from the others (i didn't manage to get a camera, rmb) and perhaps regained my computing skills. Yeah, i took about 3 tries before i managed to type in my password correctly and double-click on the firefox/opera icons.

Though i think typing this post in a fit of frustration did help me regain my typing speed. Now to face an emb/email untended for for 10 days already. I wonder how many messages ill have to read thru today. D:

last post...

Whee, blogging from the free internet booths at the airport lounge now. Only got 15 minutes before we board the plane though, so gotta make this a fast one =P

Uncle Toh sure has a lot of friends...while checking in he's walked up to two strangers already so far, one male and one female, and starting chatting with them. WHile Mr. Lee has transformed into Father Lee, showing the, er, fatherly side of him by offering free hugs. And our overall camp instructor looks kinda...fierce. =X

Sadly my parents aren't around, so i guess im an adopted child for the next 10 days. D: It's kinda...sad to watch everyone else hug and say their last words to their parents when i can only stone there. T_T

Ah well, finally spammage of emoticons before i leave. Yeah, mixed feelings right now...

Bye guys! Sure will have...lots...of...fun...*dies*

Oh, and spam my tagboard plox. It looks really...blank atm. D:

(Daniel's replying to Mr Hon's email bside me too. D;)

'Twas teh winnar at 4:46 pm.

OB Brunei

Have just half an hour left before i leave for the airport...so rushing out a post right now...

(While at the same time, chatting on msn, saying farewell to 5 people at once, giving out some instructions and suppressing my urge to spend my last minutes playing SCO...)

Hopefully there'll still be time at the airport to use the free internet booths to blog, though i doubt it with the teachers around. =X

I'm kinda worried about this camp, considering that it's a freaking 10 days long, and the closest to that ive ever gone for is the muar exchange programme, and even then, most of that week was spent in the host's home.

Not to mention that i still don't know my grouping yet. If Lester in my group we're pretty much screwed, cos he'll probably eat up all the supplies before we can even touch it. (Obviously exaggerated, but you get the idea.)

At least i managed to change the tagboard already. Fell to the temptation of cbox after all, since it seems like there's no free tagboards better than it.

Still liked oggix though - it's chock full of features. Plus there's no cutoff for the message archival system, and most importanly, NO ADS. Sadly its not supported by a stable server and has quite a few bugs...oh well. A magnificent structure without a strong base just doesn't work out.

On the other hand, you've got cbox with pretty average features, nothing special or unique. But it's user-friendly, widely used, and has a well-maintained server. At least they toned down the ads already, though there's still the irritating lavalife ads:
"Love or lust? Click here!"

Ah well, one thing would probably sum up all my thoughts at the moment pretty well...

3 days left!

Ack, just 3 days left before i leave for Brunei, and i still haven't packed yet... x_x

Before i go though, a few stuff i have to settle first:

1. Tagboard. I've head enough of oggix.com, i was trying to fix the formatting for the message fields - it suddenly screwed up and looks dan unaligned and ugly atm - but somehwo ended up with deleted message logs of the tags instead. Worse still, after i spent more than an hour reldoing and relinking the style sheets, it worked for a few minutes (at least my sacrificed didn't go to waste)...and then reverted back to the old state again. Not to mention the slow servers and constant downtime.

Though i still won't use cbox - i hate the annoying ads that come bundled with it, heh. That means sourcing for other alternatives and reviews...

2. PACK. Don't want to go to the airport before realising that i missed out my passport or Ginvera Avocado Facial Foam...

(Though if you were wondering, nope, i don't actually use it, unlike someone else...)

3. Finish up my homework. D:

4. Slack as much as possible and enjoy the privilege of using the computer before going without it for two weeks. =X (SCO!)

5. Err...get more sleep, i suppose.

'Twas teh winnar at 11:37 pm.

CSM/ACTAFM

Ack, sorry for not blogging for the past few days - been busy and didn't have much mood to blog (yep, despite the long weekend...)

BTW, the tagboard's bugged again, except this time its becos i was playing around with it and must've accidentally changed a value or something. So yeah, bear with it and hope it suddenly reverts back to normal again (like last time =P)

Sports meet on monday was a waste of time. And bloody hot. Though the same can't really be said for most of the NY/HCJC gals...

Not that I mind, since it's a waste of school time anyway - we still get to slack off for one day. xD

And if you were wondering what the convulated title is all about - well, the council *coughshauncough* has a weird habit of making things more difficult than they are. A brief history lesson, for those who don't already know: we used to have Combined Sports Meet (CSM) with the school across the "love bridge" and the JC side, but somehow the OT decided it didn't soun nice enough, so they renamed it the "Annual Combined Track and Field Meet" (ACTAFM). Which si still basically the same thing.

Anyway, since most of the time was spent roaming around school rather than cheering ourselves hoarse, not much to say about it.

Well, at least A-C-T-A-F-M good for one other thing too - class tees ;)

(Unfortuantely, taken with my sucky webcam again, so couldn't get a full shot =( )

And again the class tee's oversized for me. I got medium, same as andai, yet it's too small for him but too big for me. The same thing happened with last year's class tee too. D:

But still, looks quite cool, better than last year's at least. Would probably go well with jeans. You guys, rock on! =D

'Twas teh winnar at 7:07 pm.

Best viewed in Mozilla Firefox. IE sux, it screws the formatting.
