Mug
v. The Singaporean version of cramming for exams, i.e. scanning notes into one's brain. As if it wasn't filled with enough junk already.

Only if Necessary
adv. The night before for classroom assessments; one day for lecture tests; and one day and night (per subject) for major examinations.

This author is currently on hiatus for the ignoble cause of mugging. The public is advised to remain calm, as this routine protocol has been shown to have no effect on one's violent tendencies in 96% of cases.

I have been lazy.

So i confess.

Add that as sin #524 (if you thought that was a new mathematical expression, take a break) to my list of sins, after #1 - "Kicking my mum damn hard in the uterus when they did an ultrasound scan", #485 - "Ogling at Zhaoxing's non-existant boobs (ORLY?) during Physics Olympiad Training" and #9001 - "Lying about having a sin list."

It goes on, but i probably shouldn't write it all down here, as the only place it belongs is Page 15 of my very first notebook stashed in the third drawer from the top under the seventh desk ive used in my life. Not to mention that that would expose incriminatory secrets that could probably be used against me in court and pack me off to jail for the rest of my life.

Mm, better to plead the fifth.

So anyway, most of you reading this would be thinking at this point: "Why the hell is this crazed lunatic coming back to haunt my Firefox after having died for exactly 26 days, 13 hours and 36 minutes?"

Which coincidentally, is pretty close to the duration of menstruation cycle. (Also, i accidentally closed this tab while checking that up. Thankfully, Firefox's "Recently Closed Tabs" FTW.)

NOT THAT IM IMPLYING ANYTHING.

The answer: im actually down with a high fever which clocked in at 38.3 C. It actually subsided this afternoon with a Panadol pill, but fired up again after vigorous activity this evening.

"I feel terrible, this fever is killing my lymphatic cells!"
"I know how you feel..."
"How would you know, you're not sick at the moment."
"Oh, but I had a bacteriophage intrusion yesterday, but i took Panadol!"
"*sniff* Wut?"
PANADOL EXTRA. Relief for flu, bee stings, suicide attempts and just about anything else!

I should really be studying for the three science tests lined up for me next week, but thanks to the fever that's how i found myself here. Blogging has a weird way of finding itself into your mind in the most treacherous of situations.

Good for you, bad for me i suppose. So you had BETTER enjoy this while it lasts. >=[

The Quest: Finding CIP

The post on SLC will have to wait cos im short of 'em photos. Irina where's your camwhoring when we need it... >_<

The story begins a long time ago, when a message entitled "Need CIP hours?" popped up on the school message board and i gamely thought "Sounds cool" and signed up for it.

To cut a long story short, i forgot all about it while in Beijing. That is, until last week, when i received a call telling me to meet at The Cathay at 8.30 am on last Saturday.

"Huh?"

"You're a helper for The Quest."

"Er, ok..." The Cafe? Questing for what? Exp or money?

Anyway, i turned up without a clue of what i was to do or what the event was about. I only found out there that it was a pretty large-scale event organised by nEbO (that's the youth club thingy NTUC set up) and the few hundred youth participants were to race around Singapore from station to station, gunning for the top prize of $10k. That's quite a lot by mini-Amazing Race standards.

The aim? To promote *ahem* National Education and let youths understand the role NTUC played in Singapore history.

The only problem is that participants are given a booklet with all the clues to the location of each station and all the questions which they are supposed to answer there. So it wasn't a surprise to see numerous participants on the phone, frantically relaying the clues and questions to their contacts, who were probably at home with internet access.

I was directed to this lady holding a clipboard, and when i told her i was a helper she passed me a shirt, asking me to change and meet her back outside. When i emerged back out fom the building, i was greeted by a whole gang of HCI helpers who were, understandably, stoning.

(Side note: i didn't see that lady again until the event ended at Downtown East.)

Nothing passed for the next two hours, except that they gave us whistles and told us to make sure no one ran off early. Other than that, no instructions at all. So we sat there and blew the whistles retardedly and listened to the host (i can't rmb his name) trying to get everyone to cheer.

So much for arriving early at 8.30.

Finally at 10+, they announced that they were gonna start the -wtfwhyarewewaiting- race. And some teams got so excited they thought it had begun, so everyone stood up and was about to chiong to the MRT. A lot of whistle-blowing ensued.

One team got disqualified cos they ran onto the bus before anyone could stop them. (THAT'S FOR BEING TOO ENTHU SUCKERS.)

Wow, i can actually crap so many paragraphs on us stoning!

Yeah, here's where the action actually starts. They finally blew that freaking a**horn! What followed was too epic to be put in words. xD

www.youtube.com/watch?v=emT3QDofU30

After everyone left, we were supposed to do more saikang by clearing up the place. But then they already had enough manpower and no one called us to help, so...

...Okay, maybe not exactly action for us after all. <_<

The best things we did there was to finish up leftover bread and muffins. Woohoo. Apparently the organisers were having a discussion in Starbucks, so that was why we didn't receive any more information. And when we finally did half an hour later, we were told to meet at Downtown East at 2.30 pm.

So with more than two hours to spare, it's movie cum lunch time! Allow me to digress by saying that the new Indiana Jones movie sucks, in terms of the plot. Combining Sci-fi, E.T., National Treasure and some action doesn't quite work out in this case, producers.

Go watch Narnia instead. It's cute! ^^

Anyway, cut to Downtown East. We took the wrong bus there cos we decided to follow some participants, heh. Apparently they were as deluded as we were - blind following the blind much? =/

There was a concert/lucky draw/prize presentation up till about 5 pm there, after which we did saikang again and picked up trash. The competition was really tough though - Dah Wei's group arrived slightly past noon and even with the time dudection from their scores, they still couldn't get into the top 15. :(

The organisers had like, a few hundred goodie bags left, so they dumped some on us. There was really a lot of good stuff inside, even a voucher booklet that had a free ticket to Escape Theme Park!

Sorry to disappoint, but most of the vouchers were valid only on the day itself. D:

And so we spent the rest of the evening there. Aside from the long queues from all The Quest participants there, it was pretty damn fun, though i got all wet at the end from Dah Wei, Wen hao and Xuan Cheng ganging on me on the bumper boats ride - the boats were all attached with a water gun. :V

Heck, that was probably the best CIP activity i ever attended. More than 8 CIP hours and lots of extra goodies for just about 1 or 2 hours of saikang - please don't cry foul! xD
