Mug
v. The Singaporean version of cramming for exams, i.e. scanning notes into one's brain. As if it wasn't filled with enough junk already.
Only if Necessary
adv. The night before for classroom assessments; one day for lecture tests; and one day and night (per subject) for major examinations.
This author is currently on hiatus for the ignoble cause of mugging. The public is advised to remain calm, as this routine protocol has been shown to have no effect on one's violent tendencies in 96% of cases.

Physics of Magic (Day 1)
Woot, sabbatical week's finally here - the week b4 holidays where we slack off with completely no lessons. =D And while some lucky ones got to fly to Melbourne, i opted instead to be stuck in a classroom learning...magic. From some enthu sec 4s summore. liekzomigawdzbbqhaxworx!
And the day started off with the ever so cliched introduction of "What do you think is the meaning of...[insert subject here]?" Oh heck, let's just skip the introduction. The only cool thing was the screening of some videos showing some of the pro magicians at work with their skilled hands, after which the seniors promised us that they would be teaching us most of those tricks. Wonder if they're really that pro, lol =X
The equipment for the day was just a deck of Bicycle cards (no, its the brand.) Its quality is really good, even manufactured with an "air-cushion finish". Basically they're just really smooth and nice to slide against each other, though the cards don't come cheap - its $6 a pack, available at only 5 outlets in Singapore.
Well, at least it seems to be just a normal deck, didn't find any extra aces or anything...
A preview of what we did for the day:
Like 1337 hax! Floating cards! That's the "Hummingbird Card" trick, btw.
And a closer look:
If you squint hard enough, you may be able to see the fine thread that's attached to the card and Zhaoxing's finger on blu-tack. May be hard to see, owing to the fact that my phone cam's isn't very clear and the thread's actually thinner than a strand of hair.
Nothing remarkable after all, eh? it's just simply getting through by a bit of cheating and trickery, lol.
The great thing about this sabbatical is that it uber slack - we can simply sit around watching the sniors do stuff, go "wow!" and then "chey..." once they get round to explaining the mechanics behind the tricks. The only hard part's a mini-performance/presentation we have to show to the class on Friday displaying some original tricks. But hey, we still get Physics ACE for all that twiddling of thumbs =P
More stuff over the next few days!
