We watched the short film "15" by Royston Tan after Mr Cheng's lit lesson that day. It's pretty much a satirical comedy depicting a few gangsters' lives which Mr Cheng claims to be "the only Singaporean movie worth watching". IMHO, it isn't all that great though, being even quite lame at certain scenes, what with the heavy editing and use of unintelligible Hokkien, er, exclamations. To be fair, i suppose there must have been some background literary significance that i failed to catch which made it so interesting for someone like Mr Cheng. Or maybe it was the gay scenes, i don't know. D: However, there was this one line in the movie which got me thinking though. "There are no eternal friends or foes." Sigh, if only people were more understanding, trusting and open, humans might be able to lead a more harmonious existence together. And paths may cross, but they soon split apart into different directions again. Or it might be the end of the road for some. At least we forgive and forget though. But shit happens. "Our friendship will only be as good as it lasts." So be it, then. Time to move on. |
