Mug
v. The Singaporean version of cramming for exams, i.e. scanning notes into one's brain. As if it wasn't filled with enough junk already.

Only if Necessary
adv. The night before for classroom assessments; one day for lecture tests; and one day and night (per subject) for major examinations.

This author is currently on hiatus for the ignoble cause of mugging. The public is advised to remain calm, as this routine protocol has been shown to have no effect on one's violent tendencies in 96% of cases.

YOG 2010

This is the 200th post.

On such a special occasion, let us rejoice in the coindental surprise of:

SINGAPORE WON THE BID TO HOST THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES WOOOT!

Haha we pwnd joo Moscow.

Well, ignoring the fact that YOG's probably 100 times smaller than the actual Olympics, and that it's mainly the youths, the IOC Committee, and PM Lee (he's young at heart too <3) who seem to be cheering on Singapore, it feels great for us to get another chance to get international recognition.

(The miniature scale of it is probably also why host cities are only given 2.5 years to prepare for it, whereas that of the Olympics get chosen 7 years in advance. I think we should be able to meet the deadline with lots of breathing space though, considering our new Singapore Toilet Bowl Sports Hub is already underway, and our foreign talent/workers do work very fast indeed.)

I'll admit it though, i think we really did put in a lot of effort into making this dream come true, especially with all the publicity and voluntary efforts from various organisations and youths to drum up support for Singapore. And im sure glad we get to reap the rewards of our sweat and tears this time round. =]

I can't really describe this inexplicable swelling of joy in me, and i do wanna get to sleep soon, so i shall kope some stuff from Bing's blog which somewhat coincides with my thoughts - Thanks in advance.

i have often said that i dont really like the country and the people and the education systems, but upon hearing the results and watching the countdown party scream and shout and cheer, i could only wish that i was there cheering with them.

the atmostphere was really amazing.

you know what?

a city celebrating because it has achieved something purely out of it's own blood sweat and tears, and now fully enjoying the hard work, that's a true measure of national pride.

in no way can national pride be better represented, certainly not by droning Majulah nor by mumbling We the Citizens. even on national day, it is somewhat forced, by order of a national holiday, that we come together to cheer our nation.

today was purely voluntary celebration and a sign of the passions of youths coming together to rejoice over a combined effort that resulted in success.
