CNY '08
Before i forget, happy Chinese New Year to everyone! I know it's like three days late, but the past few days have been packed with visits to and from relatives, collecting angpaos (free $$ lol <3),>gambling (yay moar moolah) and mugging for tests.
Actually, the last wasn't supposed to happen since teachers were meant to move their tests from next week to one week later so we can actually enjoy our short break from school to celebrate and have fun. At least that was the intention of the Sec 2 who suggested that change, and Mr Hon when he approved of it. So the teachers (grudgingly) postponed their tests...and replaced those next week with mock tests instead. <_<
So the CNY celebrations started off with a zomgwtfbbqmushploxwtimeasdfqwertyBANG! with the school's very own CNY concert, what else? Guess we can't go wrong with a Lion Dance performance by our Scouts...If only they didn't lie there for FREAKING TEN MINUTES while peeling oranges (and goodness knows what else) under that cloth.
Everyone cheered when they finally started getting up...but they got lazy and lay down again. We pretty much gave up after that.
The best part of the performance was probably the Wushu performance though. Only one screwup: When Justin phailed a couple of his moves. (I shouldn't be niaoing him since i probably can't do them either, heh xD)
Unfortunately i didn't take any pics of it, so i shall steal Kuan Yue's one instead.
And then we went to cards to the teachers (personally signed and delivered by all of 4N; even got Huang Ji's signature okay), visit our alma mater and all the "tradaitions" we do pretty much every year. Dunno if this year will be our last though. D:
On to more interesting stuff. Blackjack was a key component of every day of the festivities for me...Just don't tell anyone that. Quite surprising since i haven't gambled over CNY for like a few ears already...the last time i did was blackjack with 10 cent coins at my aunt's house after the reunion dinner. I think everyone likes to gamble over CNY because they believe the New Year bring about good luck and prosperity...but in gambling, if everyone gets all the luck and money, then where would it come from? =P
At least i was pretty lucky, winning about $30 over the three days with only bets of 50 cents to a max of $2. And that's usually already the lowest at the table, espeically when your uncles put down intimidating $10 notes all the time.
(Whether they got to keep it was another matter. Some lost a few hundred bucks lor o_O)
And i think the luck in my house is really good, cos when we play blackjacks, double aces and five-cards keep popping out. Poor banker.
You know the fengshui is coming to a head though, when you get stuff like:
DOUBLE DOUBLE ACE NEXT TO EACH OTHER WTF. I swear the picture wasn't staged. Lucky for the banker (my dad), the bids were only 50 cents each so he only had to pay out $3.
The probability of that happening is like, 4/52 * 3/52 * 2/52 * 1/52 = 4!/524 or according to my calculator, 0.000328%. That's around a one in 3 million chance of happening, right here in my very own home. And the guy to the right was a beginner who just learnt blackjack that day, and got double aces twice that day.
(The first time he got double ace, he didn't know what to do with it and actually went to draw three more cards, lol. Luckily he didn't go bust so he got double instead of triple his bet in return. xD)
Guess our four day holiday (kinda) ends in about 2 hours...oh well, the Monday blues are creeping in already. >_<
On a side note: McDonald's "Prosperity Meal" is a scam, as always. Don't buy it, unless you really have too much angpao money to spare. =X
