Yeah, i stumbled onto that video the other day, in which M.J. McDermott criticizes the new Math curriculum in Washington, especially on the use of the textbooks "TERC Investigations" and "Everyday Mathematics". She ends off by recommending Singapore Math textbooks (the Primary 4 ones are shown in the video): If you're a parent with kids having problems in school right now with Reformed Math, may I recommend the very efficient, and reasonably priced Singapore Math textbooks...Very simple to use, and inexpensive. Just like the Singapore Government. Efficient, simple, and...oh wait, its the most expensive in the world. Bad analogy. You can view the video here. In fact, if you scan through the comments, you'll find many people praising the Singapore textbooks too, saying they used them to homeschool their children with amazing results. Guess our education system is kinda "world-acclaimed" after all. Though take note that we're only talking about primary education here...secondary education and JC is a different matter altogether.
